Joshua's B-day Celebration Part 2

Joshua has been talking about his b-day for months!  Omah told him that on his b-day we would say, "WHEE Joshua is three."  And to that he added "on the swing."  So for months the saying around here has been "Whee, Joshua is three, on the swing!"

Since turning three he tries to use that number to his advantage.  Some nights we will read two books before bed instead of one so now he will ask, "Can we read three because I am three?"  Or if we give his two treats he will ask for three because he is three.  Or when he is doing something fun and we tell him one more time and we are done he will say "No three more times."

The morning of Joshua's party he opened up one of his presents from us at breakfast time; BOZ DVD's- one of his favorite shows.

Months before Joshua's birthday he started saying that we were going to have his party at Bison Park (a big park in our old neighborhood).  So Bison Park it was...until we moved.  Then he decided it was going to be at his new favorite park, Rhyolite Park, in our new neighborhood.  I told him we could have his party at the park if it wasn't too cold and he said, "If it is too cold everyone can just bring their jackets.."  So rain or shine, cold or hot we planned to have his party at the park.

The week leading up to his party we were having afternoon rain showers almost daily.  Luckily the park has a nice big pavilion.  We did talk to him about having his party in our basement if it was raining too much.  He was okay with that but of course still really wanted it at the park. He said we could bring towels to wipe off the slide.  Throughout the day he would say to us, "I don't see any rain clouds."  insinuating that it would be okay to have his party at the park.

Party time came and though it looked like it was going to rain it never did!  YEA!  We had a great time celebrating our boy at the park with family and his two best buddies, just the way he wanted it!

The Guest...

Kayla Girl hanging out with her Aunt Sydney.

Uncle Andrew, Aunt Anna, and Aunt Diane.

His best buddies and old neighbors, Parker and Riley.

Mimi, Omah, Aunt Brooke, and Aunt Sydney.

Chasing Aunt Brooke's bubbles.

Showing Aunt Anna his favorite card.

Cake time.  First of all I do not profess in anyway to be  professional cake decorated.  I do not have the time, patience, interest or steady hand that it requires.  Having said that, a 3 year old is easy to please and seeing his delight in my creations brings joy to my heart.

Joshua requested a chocolate cake so I did a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.  Of course it was train themed.  I did the tracks with pretzels since that is one of his current favorite snacks right now and we bought him a couple new trains to put on top.  His reaction when he saw it was so cute!  He sure did boost my cake decorating ego ;)

It was so sweet watching him being sung to.  He was beaming!  He loved it!  He got especially giddy when we said his name during the song.

Watching him blow out the candle was so funny.  He was a little too far and couldn't get it to go out so his blows got bigger, harder and more and more dramatic.

Then in came Omah with the bright idea of standing him up to get closer to the cake.  What would moms do without grandparents ;)

While eating cake he randomly looked over at Aunt Sydney and said, "you're my friend.  I love you!"  (Mimi "awing" over his sweet comment,."  I captured the moment with my camera but wish I would have gotten video of it.  It was the sweetest!

Right after his sweet comment to Aunt Sydney he looked over at Daddy and said, "And you're the old one."  And by the look on that face he knew he was being funny.

The Piñata

When I asked him what he wanted to put in his Piñata he said, "treats." When I asked what kind of treats he said, "Granola bar treats."  HEE-HEE!

When the time came to stuff the piñata he was all about sampling the treats.

Stuffing his piñata while eating a sucker.

Look at those storm clouds.

Miss Riley's turn.

Parker taking a few swings.

When the pinata started to break slightly and treats were falling out here and there Joshua immediately asked for his bad to get them right away.

When it finally opened up all the way  it was too cute seeing the little kids trying to gather all the loot.  I noticed Joshua picking over just about everything trying to gather only the suckers.

He is already planning his 4th b-day.  He told Daddy he wants it to be at Rhyolite park again.  He said he wants his party at Rhyolite Park when he turns 4, 5, 10, and 20."  Daniel then told him he was 32 and Joshua could hardly believe it.  He kept saying, "NNOOOOO!" With a smile like Daniel was joking with him.  So funny!
