How Joshua was Named

Daniel and I had a baby name list for years but until you're actually pregnant you don't realize just how important choosing the right name for your child is.

Ever since we were dating Daniel had his top two boy names picked out.  They were Joshua Daniel and Caleb Michael and there was no changing his mind.  Lucky for him I liked those names as well and we decided long before we got pregnant that those were going to be our boy names.

Well, I started to not love the name Joshua Daniel.  I kept trying to persuade Daniel to like other boy names that I really liked all to no avail.

Once I was pregnant I wasn't sure what we were going to do if we found out we were having a boy.

Once I saw our son on the ultrasound T.V. and heard the technician announce we were having a boy I just knew he was to be named Joshua.  While watching him swim around I couldn't see him being named anything else.

First thing that showed up on the ultrasound were these sweet little feet.
When I saw them pressed up against the screen my heart exploded with love!

You can be sure that Daniel was thrilled once I told him.

I tell Joshua that I hope he grows up to be like Joshua in the Bible; strong, courageous, boldly stand up for his faith and cling to the promises of the Lord ALWAYS.

Just look at this sweet face, doesn't he just look like a Joshua Daniel?

Joshua and his dog

Right before Dan went to basic training 8.5 years ago he gave me this stuffed dog.

Since moving to Colorado it has found it's home in one of our closets.  About a month or so ago I got it out for Joshua to play with. Since then he has become very, very attached to it.

He pretend feeds his dog...

He shares his water and milk with his dog...

He makes the cutest sound affects for his dog when he feeds it or gives it a drink.

He sleeps with his dog...

He gives his dog lots and lots of loves...
He eats while holding his dog...

His dog even goes on outings with us...
Picnic at the pool.

Car rides.

The library.

If you try taking his dog away from him there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.  I have a hard time getting him to let go of his dog for one second so that I can buckle him in his car seat.

It is really sweet to watch him play with his dog.  I love watching him use his imagination and play pretend with it.
