March 2016

This boy is a climber.  This was all in about 10 minutes time.

We took a "field trip" to Cabella's to see all the animals.  The kids love this store!  Levi walked around the store like he owned it growling at all the animals.

My crew taking over the neighborhood.

Omah took Kayla and Levi for the day so Mommy and Joshua had a "Joshua and Mommy day of fun."  We went to lunch, did errands and had some fun at Jump Street.  When I spend time with J alone I really realize how mature and old he is getting.  Doing errands is a breeze since he gets himself in and out of his seat, buckles and unbuckles himself, can open and close the door, doesn't need a cart, can keep up with me in the store, likes holding my hand as we browse, and we don't need to rush back home for naptime.

Morning out with Daddy.  They went and had donuts and "coffee" and then went to a Home Depot workshop.  D said they both had a blast building wagons.

Homeschool highlights from this month...

Learning about how animals who live in the arctic stay warm.  So fun!

Testing the water with the hand that doesn't have "blubber."

Now seeing how the hand with blubber doesn't get nearly as cold in the ice water.

Joshua has been curious about earthquakes so we did an experiment that showed how the mountains are formed.

Daniel had another business trip this month and would you believe that everyone but me got sick again?  J got sick first.  After a few days of fever and feeling miserable I finally took him in after he started complaining of stomach pain.  I called the nurse and she said we better bring him in since he had two of the 4 symptoms of strep (fever and stomachache).  The doctor we saw (not our normal doctor) said it was just a virus.  She said we could test for strep but she didn't think he had it.  We did the test since the nurse is the one who recommended he come to be tested for it.  So glad we had the test done because it came back positive.  On top of the cold virus and strep he also had pink eye.   A few days later Levi I took Levi in and he had strep and a double ear infection.  He also had pink eye when J did.  And a few days after Levi Kayla came down with strep and a double ear infection.  No pink eye for Kayla and she was a little upset about that as she wanted to get eye drops like her brothers were getting.  Levi, the little stinker, laughed when we put his drops in.

Daddy got sick with strep while he was out of town.  Whew, no more business trips please.  I literally picked up a prescription for everyone in my family in the course of one week.  Kayla is so funny when she plays "mommy" (house) now.  She takes her babies to the doctors and then they get in the car to go to King Soopers to get medicine.  She knows the drill.
J was feeling so miserable that he wanted to be carried.  In order to save my back I brought Levi's umbrella stroller for him when we went to the doctors.  Poor pitiful big guy!

BBQ with neighbors.

Went to Aunt Brookes Art Exhibit.

My dinner helpers.

We "egged" our neighbors and the kids were watching out the window to see their reaction.  We hid a few Easter eggs in their yard stuffed with goodies and left one empty.  We left a note telling them the empty egg was a reminder of Jesus' empty tomb.

We got a really big snow storm this month and so we played our snow day mattress game to burn energy.

We made snow day donuts.

They tasted amazing!!!

Tweenies.

What is better than 1 car?  2 Cars!  Lately he almost always has a car in his hand if not both.

Joshua came downstairs dressed up and announced, "Mimi's here!"  Spot on with all the bling bling.  I couldn't stop laughing at this silly boy.

Train slide.

Playing Go Fish with friends.

Joshua can make a mean PB&J.

More Go Fish with his DIY card holder.  Watching the way the kids keep their cards organized gives me anxiety.

Until next month...

Easter 2016

What a fun Easter we had.  We started our celebration on Saturday morning  with just our family.  We had our resurrection rolls with breakfast, read the Easter story, went on a hunt for our resurrection eggs, and then the kids went on a treasure hunt with clues to find their baskets (something both of us grew up doing).

Daddy reading clues to the kids.

Kayla found her basket!

Levi was having a blast doing what the bigs were doing.

Kayla sharing her treats.

I just love this picture.  Love, love, love Kayla's sweet face looking at Levi. Such a sweet little nurturer who is (typically) good at sharing.

The kids had such a blast with all the hunts we did.  Joshua kept putting treats (Cheerios) in eggs and hiding them for Levi to find.  Actually, that started the night before and continued through the next day.  He hid a bunch of eggs for Levi and had a grand plan of what was to take place the next morning.

The morning of Easter we went to church and then spent the day at Mimi's house.

The kids getting ready to color eggs.

Levi was so interested in what was going on.

There was an egg in front of him and I told him to put it in the bowl.  He was so excited and thought he was really participating.

Levi and his special egg :)

Clapping for himself.

Don't we look like a social bunch?  We were playing psych together on our phones.

And the hunt is on.

Mimi trying to Levi to pick up the egg.

He didn't quite understand the concept, hence the upside down bucket.

Trying to get them all three to pose for a picture is impossible.

Levi says, "I'm outta here."

Happy Easter!  He is risen!
