Levi at 8 Months

This little charmer is 8 months old.  Can I just say how much I love this stage?!  I just want to freeze time right now.  He is just so laid back and happy.  I love how happy he gets when I walk into the room, when I go into get him from naps and just when I talk to him.  I love how right now I am his favorite person.  When Daddy is holding him and I approach him he get so happy, wiggly, smiley and leans towards me.  That is definitely one of my most favorite things about this age.

Here is what our smiley boy is up to at 8 months old...

*He can make anyone smile anytime anywhere.

*Levi got sick with his first stomach bug.  He threw up twice and was just sort of out of it for a couple of days.  Shortly after that he got a little cold and after his cold  he started cutting 4 teeth at the same time.  Poor guy has had a rough few weeks but all things considering, he has handled it all like a champ!

*I think his play mat is his favorite toy.

But I think it might be time to retire it.

*As soon as we start walking up the stairs to lay Levi down for nap he immediately puts his two fingers in his mouth.  That is always a sure sign he is tired.

* He gets where he wants just fine by rolling and pivoting.  He hasn't shown any real signs of wanting to crawl except for very recently I did see him up on his knees, but only the one time.  Daniel and I always say how this totally fits his personality; he is just so chill, content and laid back and isn't in any rush.

* He is getting really good at sitting by himself for short periods of time.  The kids love to have him sit in between their legs to practice.

So proud of himself!

*He loves to eat and has started on some finger foods.  He hasn't quite figured out how to feed himself and it is kind of funny to watch him try. He gets frustrated when the food is in the palm of his hand and he can't figure out how to get it in his mouth.

Joshua made his hair "standy."

Kayla loves to help give Levi a bath.

Having a baby brother is like having a dog in that they both beg for your food.

When I lay Kayla down for nap she often requests that Levi lay down with her and then she scoots over to make room for him.  They both love it.

These pictures crack me up!

Levi loves to grab Daniel's face and try to suck on it and blow raspberries on him.  It is so hilarious and what makes it even more funny is that he really only does this with Daniel.

Lunch date with Papa Eric.

First time in the park swing.

First time riding in the shopping cart.

"Woah, I don't think I am quite ready for this Mom."

"Mommy won't let me chew on rocks!"

My always smiling boy.

Kayla's real live baby doll.  I like how she is holding his head still.

My little morning snuggle bugs.

On more than one occasion we have gone to get him from nap and have found him with his shirt half off.

My little Tarzan.

Like Omah says, "How can anyone ever have a bad day with this little guy around?"  He is sure to brighten anyone's day.  He lights up our world and we love him oh so much!

J's B-day celebration part 1

Joshua has been so, so, sooooo excited for his b-day.  He has been counting down the days for at least a month.  The night before his b-day he asked if he could stay up and help decorate.  HA!  I love that he knew he would wake up to decorations.  When he came down in the morning and saw all the decorations he was so happy.

Joshua didn't want to wear his b-day boy button so Kayla proudly wore it for him.

Omah came over and enjoyed b-day pancakes with us and gave Joshua his presents.

Later that day we had to go to the store and pick up a few things.  Joshua happened to find 4 pennies and thought it was so neat that he found 4 pennies on the day he turned four!

For dinner we went to Red Robin.  On the way he asked how many more days until he turns 5.  Then he asked how many more days until he turns 20.  Funny boy, slow down.  Let's just live in the moment.

We had a much better experience this year then we did for his 2nd b-day where he cried and tried to climb out of his high chair as fast as he could when they started singing happy b-day to him.  This time around he loved it!  He was singing and clapping the Red Robin b-day song all day and said he was going to sing along with them.

When I asked what his favorite part of his b-day was he said the pancakes.  Mine was when he found one of his presents from us.  He got walkie talkies and we put one in a bag and hid it.  Then Daniel went in another room and started saying his name through the walkie talkie.  It was fun to see J trying to figure out what was going on.

B-days are just so much fun now that the kids are older and understand them.  So far both Joshua and Kayla have enjoyed celebrating each others and haven't shown any signs of jealousy on their siblings day.

Stay turned for a post on his big b-day bash with friends.

Happy 4th B-day

Happiest birthday to the one who started it all!!!

Joshua,

We could not have asked for a better first child than yourself.  You are so mature, self sufficient, and wise beyond your years.

You have a deep love for your siblings and I know I can always count on your help in protecting and watching out for them.

You are kind and have such a tender heart.  I love hearing you asks, "Are you okay" when you see one of your friends fall off their bike.

You are so creative, imaginative, and very passionate about your projects.  You don't do anything half way; it is all or nothing just like your Daddy.  Along with that you are also very observant, such a deep thinker and inquisitive always wanting to know how things work.  You ask such deep questions about The Bible and Jesus and I love watching you grow in the knowledge of our Lord.

Seek God with all that you are and continue to ask questions about the wonderful world he created.

We love you to the moon and back!

All my Love,

Mommy

What Joshua is doing at  years old...

*Likes to ride his bike, climb, jump, and rough house.

*Loves to do crafts, especially paint.

*He still takes a 2-3 hour nap most days. However, about every few days he doesn't sleep and just plays in his room.  Sometimes quietly, sometimes not so quietly (he likes trying to yell at talk to us through the vent).

*He is such a good helper!  The other day I had to step away from feeding Levi to tend to Kayla.  When I returned I saw that Joshua had poured a little more cereal into Levi's bowl.  When I asked why he did that he said he was helping me because I have 3 kids to take care of.  So thoughtful!

*He loves building things.

Here is his "race crane" that he made all by himself.  Love this boys imagination.

Joshua made a "fly-it" for each family member. I love Levi's tiny little one.

*As mentioned in my letter, he is an incredibly deep thinker and so very bright.  He is constantly amazing us with his conclusions, questions and ideas.  His memory is incredible as well.

Omah gave Joshua some rope to play with.  All on his own he created a pulley system.  When they asked him how he came up with that idea he said, "it just crawled into my head."  The next day we made one off our deck.

Then we made a zip line.  Joshua came up with the idea to tie the rope to something really heavy on the deck so he could zip line.  When I explained he would get really hurt he asked, "How hurt?"  I think he was trying to figure out if it would be worth it.

Loves measuring things with the tape measure.

We sure do love this joyful little boy and are so blessed to call him ours.  Happy birthday buddy boy!
