Joshua at 20 Months

Here is an update on my sweet Joshua boy at 20 months old.
  • There isn't anything this boy doesn't say.  He  can even hold a mini conversation.  Some of the phrases he's been saying lately that I think are pretty funny are "Okay, now what?" and "How are ya?"  And when you ask him it back he says, "good." We also occasionally get some unprompted "I love yous."
  • He is such a routine boy.  If we lay him down for bed and forget something that we normally do (pray, brush his teeth, read the Bible) he will remind us as we are laying him down.
  • Here is the conversation we have almost every morning when I get him up...
    J- "Dada?"
    Me- "Where is dada?"
    J- "Work!"
Me- "Yea, Dada is at work."
    J- "Lalor." (Later)
Me- "Yea Daddy will come home later."
    J- "Eat."
Me- "Yes, when daddy gets home we will eat dinner."
  • He loves his Daddy. They throw the football to each other, play chase, hide 'n' seek, and Daddy gives Joshua lots of piggy back rides.
  • He loves giving hugs.  His hugs are always followed by knuckles and then a high five.
  • He LOVES LOVES LOVES football.  When Daniel has sports radio on in the car he exclaims, "football!"  He was looking through a football children's book and pointed to one of the players and said, "Elway!"  I had to hide his Jersey otherwise he would want to wear it every day and it is getting quit snug on him.
  • He has a big appetite.  Some days I feel like I am feeding him all day long.
  • He has such a fun sense of humor!
Joshua loves to be outside.  Last week we had really nice weather and he played outside pretty much all morning and then after his nap he was right back at it. I love that he likes playing outside so much; even by himself.  It allows me to get dinner on or knock out a quick chore.

Doing some digging.

Poor Dog walking up the stairs...

...poor dog going down the slide.  WEEE!

He wanted to take the new double stroller to the park one day.  He kept pointing to the back saying, "baby."  I think he is ready for his sister to join us on our walks.

Watering the plants.

He will randomly stop what he is doing, get real quiet and then give us this silly look out of the corner of his eye. It makes us laugh every time.

There it is again.

He still really enjoys reading.  I love when he brings a book and says, "read it" then he scoots back to sit in my lap.  After we finish one book he goes and gets me another.  We usually sit and rock and read books for about 20 minuets after breakfast each morning.  I have really been cherishing that special time knowing that it will be much more difficult to have those times with him here shortly.

Playing a computer game.  He hits any key and different animals pop up and make noises.  He loves it!

He's recently gotten into puzzles. He does them all by himself and he is really fast.

It is not unusual to find him like this after his nap.

Play dough

He counts to two.  I love hearing him randomly count his toys "one, two, one, two, one, two" as he points to each item.
Counting his screwdrivers.

Buddies!

Doing a little reading while breaking in baby sister's swing.

Bubble fun in the sink.

Joshua's First Trip to the Zoo

Over the weekend we took Joshua to the zoo for the first time.  The morning we went he kept saying "zoo." When we asked him what we were going to see at the zoo he'd say, "amals."

Here are some pictures from Joshua's first zoo excursion.

The lion kept walking right up against the glass.

"I'm outta here!"  He wasn't too sure about being face to face with the lion.  He would go up to the glass as the lion walked away and then turn around and walk away when the lion got right in his face.

I love this picture.  He looks so big leaned up against the wall watching the peacock.

"I will show you the way Daddy!"

Watching the monkeys.

Had to stop to play in a puddle of course.

Loved the the bongos.

His favorite was the fish.

He will always find someone to give a hug to.  Such an affectionate boy.

My handsome boy!

If you ask him about the elephant he will tell you all about the elephant poop he saw. HA-HA!  The conversation usually goes something like this...

Me- "Did you see an elephant at the zoo?"
Joshua- "Poop!"
Me- "The elephant pooped?"
Joshua- "A LOT!"

As we were leaving the zoo he was all sorts of goofy.  I asked him if he had fun and he just giggled.  We asked him what he saw at the zoo and he said, "Papa! Elmo!"  No he did not see either at the zoo.  Silly boy!

Later that day he played with his barn and barnyard animals at home calling it the zoo.  So cute! Then today he woke up from his nap saying, "zoo."  I think he wants to go back.

We are looking forward to our next zoo visit.

Meet Poor Dog

If you are new to my blog then meet Joshua's beloved dog which has affectionately been named "Poor Dog" (said in a high pitched voice).

One day Joshua threw his dog and Daniel said, "Poor dog!" Ever since then that is what Joshua calls his dog.

I chuckle to myself when I think of him bringing it to show and tell some day, "This is my favorite toy, his name is poor dog."  Oh what will his teacher think?

Here is how we found Joshua one morning when we went to get him up.

Notice how not only are both his legs and his dogs legs are sticking out but so are both their noses. Goofy boy!

Joshua's Christmas Package from California

A few weeks before Christmas Joshua received a package in the mail from his Grandma and Grandpa in California.

He followed me to the door to get the package and then into the kitchen where I opened it.  He was so excited!  I have no idea how he learned that getting a package in the mail is an exciting and fun thing.  As I was opening the box he was dancing with excitement.  Once the box was opened he kept saying, "WOW! WOW! WOW!" as he pulled everything out.  I wish I had taken video.  It was so stinkin cute!

While I didn't get video I was able to snap some shots of the action.
Latch puzzle...right up J's alley.  He loves figuring things  like this out.

Checking out his his Bilibo Seat.

Going for a spin in his Bilibo.

Crash and burn.

But he gets right back up again for more.

Now it's doggie's turn.

The big bag that some toys came in was of course just as much fun to play with as the toys.  Potato Sack race anyone?

Oopps.  Might need a little more practice before he's ready for a race.

Joshua loves his new toys!  It was a lot of fun seeing his excitement as he opened the package.  It's touching that he has so many people that, even though they live of state, still love him and think about him.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
