Kayla is 9 Months old

Happy 9 month b-day to our sweet Kayla Girl.

Well baby stats:
Height: 27.5 (50%)
Weight: 17 lbs 5 oz (40%)
Head: 17 1/8 (45%)

9 Month Photo shoot:
Every month I take a picture of Kayla next to a bear that was Daniel's from when he was a baby (I did the same with Joshua).  Every month it gets harder and harder to get a picture of her actually laying next to the bear.

Here is what she is doing at 9 months.

*She is such a routine baby.  I seriously could get by without a watch  all day long.  I could tell you what time it is depending on her mood and what she is doing.

*She claps and will sometimes makes a, "yea" sound when clapping.

*She loves her big brother and wants to play with everything he is playing with. I get her up in the morning and nurse her before I get Joshua up.  As soon as she hears him talking in his room she books it with a smile on her face to go see him.  When she sees him after a nap or first thing in the morning she lights up.  When he comes up to her she smiles, kicks her legs and reaches out for him and plays with his hair. and face

*She goes from laying down to sitting.

*She loves, and I mean LOVES her baths.  She kicks like crazy.  Crazy I tell you!  Daniel is the one who does bath time and he is always soaked by the time its over.

*We are doing baby sign language.  It is still a little early to tell but I *think* she is starting to sign all done.  She doesn't yet know what it means but when I say "all done" she sometimes does a version of the sign for it.

*She reaches out to me when she wants me to hold her.  She only reaches out to me and I just love it!

*She is a pro army crawler.

*She is such a cuddle bug.  Sometimes when she is sitting on my lap facing outward she will turn toward me to snuggle.  Once I turn her around to face me she buries her face under my neck.

* Her little security thing is resting her wrist over her nose.  She doesn't suck on it.  She just lays it there.  It is so cute.  She mostly does this when getting her PJ's on or changing her diaper when she is tired.

*She makes a cute fishy face a lot and it is so funny.  She makes a loud kissing sound and she will do it back to you if you do it to her first.  One day I was making the kissing sound to her while she was in another room and she was doing it back.

More pictures from this month.
She couldn't take her eyes of her Uncle Andrew.

On the move...

...and into everything!

She loves crawling into the bathroom.

She is such a happy baby!

Playing with Joshua in his tent.

If only all my laundry was this cute...

Though you can't tell from this picture, Kayla wasn't feeling well and wanted to be held by only me.  Moby to the rescue!

My shopping buddies.

Having a little sister is a lot like having a dog in that you can sneak the food that you don't want to eat to her.

Snuggling before nap time.  These two seriously love each other.

Such a sweet sleeping baby.

We sure do love this sweet, happy baby!

SSHHH

Don't tell Joshua...
...that I grabbed one of his pictures off of the fridge...
...crumbled it up and tried to eat it.

Also, don't tell my mom that I broke one of her magnets in the process.

Joshua's Swim Lessons

Joshua really took to swimming this past summer so we thought that swim lessons would be a good activity for him to keep his interest up and to burn off some of his toddler energy during the winter.

They split the classes up by age not by ability.  I know I am a little biased but truth be told he could probably stand to be bumped up two classes.  His current class is all about feeling comfortable in the water.  This boy is well passed that.  He treads water by himself holding onto a noodle, loves being dunked, jumping in the water and jumping off the step and gliding to someone under water.  While the teacher was teaching basic hold techniques Joshua was saying, "I want to go under the water!"

During one of the lessons they got to wear life jackets.  Joshua LOVED it.  He would float on his back while Daniel pushed him way out by himself and Joshua would just laugh and laugh.

By the last lesson Joshua was getting bored and just wanted to swim.  Even though Joshua was way ahead of what they were teaching the lessons were still good for him.  They gave him an opportunity to practice his patience and listen to his teacher.

Here are some pictures from his very first class.

Christmas Time

I love the Christmas season! When I was teaching I always had so much fun turning learning activities into a Christmas theme, doing Christmas crafts and activities.  So of course I am enjoying this time of year even more as a mom!

Here are some fun things that the kids have been up to this month.

We started the season out by making our own wrapping paper.  We glued foam stickers on a rolling pin, painted the stickers then rolled it on the paper.

Joshua thought the rolling pin painting was fun but he much preferred the free style painting and decorating with stickers.

Decorating the Christmas tree!

Crafts
Making a marshmallow snowman.

He probably ate 3 for every one he glued.

\
Sorting big and small bows.

Painting with Christmas cookie cutters which quickly turned into painting with his hands and then ended up with him lathering the paint all over his arms.  Glad I caught him when I did.  On a different note, I love the helmet!  Finger painting can be very, very dangerous!

 Peeking at the presents.

Reindeer!
Every morning when we go downstairs we turn on the Christmas tree lights and then Joshua runs over to his tree to "turn on" their lights and he makes a "zip" sound as he does it.   He loves this little tree.  After we wrapped Daddy's present I gave it to him and told him to put it under the tree and he asked, "Can I put it under my tree?"

Playing in his Christmas sensory tub.

We made and delivered play dough to Joshua's neighborhood friends.  Before we left the house to deliver the goodies Joshua insisted that we take a picture next to every.snowman.in.the.house.  I love the expression on his face.  It is pure joy and really show how he feels about giving gifts.

They love playing with the Christmas bows.  They made bow soup for a few days then bow muffins.

Taste testing the bow muffins.

We've been reading books about the birth of Christ,
playing with his nativity scene and acting out the different
events that took place during that time.

Kayla just loves the Christmas tree!  It is a really good distraction if I need to get something done and she is fussy.

Happy Birthday Jesus Party!

Showing off their personalized ornaments that Grandma and Grandpa Unsell sent them.  When we opened the package Joshua was able to recognize whose ornament was whose by reading the names on the them.

Tis the season and we are having so much fun!
