Kayla's 8 Month Update

When I sat down to write this blog I had to check my month a couple  of times to make sure Kayla really was 8 months and not 7.  I thought time flew with Joshua but it seems to be flying by even faster with Kayla.
Here is what Kayla is doing at 8 months.

*Omah said that Kayla is pure sugar and that is the truth!  She has such a sweet countenance.  The other day Daniel asked me, "is it too late too change her middle name to Joy?"  Joy really does describe her personality.

*She seems to enjoy looking at books that have pictures of real babies.  Though lately she seems more interested in lunging toward the book and chewing on it as I try reading to her.

*She is such a cuddle bug.  A lot of the times when we pick her up she will immediately rest her head on our shoulders.  It is not just a tired thing at all.  She does it at all different times of the day.  It is so sweet!

*She is really ticklish on her belly around her rib cage and under her chin.  Give her kisses in these two spots and you are almost guaranteed a laugh every time.

Daddy found the spot!
*She has started babbling Mama and when she does Joshua gets so excited.  His eyes light up and he says with such excitement, "Kayla said 'MAMA!'"

*Sometimes when I have been away a for a little while she will be happy and content hanging with Daddy but then as soon as she hears me or sees me she starts crying this really pitiful, pouty lip cry.  Then once I pick her up she is totally fine.  She does this at night as well.  Daniel usually gets her ready for bed then I go and nurse her.  As he is getting her ready she is usually playful and content but once I walk in the room she will start crying and will not take her eyes off of me.  It is actually pretty cute.

*She still goes to bed around 6:15pm and gets up around 4-6 to nurse then goes right back to sleep until about 7.  She takes two naps a day.  The first one is 1.5-2 hours and the second one is 2-3hours.  She nurses 5 times a day (counting that early am feed).

*Kayla has mastered the army crawl and gets around just fine with that technique (just like her big bro did).  She loves crawling over to Joshua and trying to play with whatever it is he is playing with it.

Daddy found the spot!

She still gets on her hands and knees and rocks
and moves her knees forward but doesn't
know what to do with her arms.
*Sister girl loves to eat and still hasn't met a food that she will not eat. She gets solids for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I love that big, wide opened mouth!

One day I was trying to get Joshua's lunch ready
and Kayla was squealing for more food.  When the
squealing suddenly stopped I turned around to see this.
What a great big brother!

*J&K started taking baths together and they both love it!

Joshua loves gathering up all the toys and giving them to
Kayla and Kayla loves putting them all in her mouth.
*I know I say it all the time but she loves her big brother.  She gets so excited when he walks over to her and she will just stare at him and smile while he plays.
I love how proud Joshua looks in this picture.

Wrestling with her brother.  Disclaimer: they were
both having fun and no one got hurt ;)
*She loves chewing on her socks.  I picked her up from the nursery at church and one of the workers told me, "She keeps chewing on her socks.  I tried giving her a toy but she just wants her sock."

Most times it just dangles out of her mouth like this.
*Kayla loves to sit in the mulch at the park while watching her big brother play.   Joshua loves having her as an audience.  He tells us, "Watch me go down the slide and then say 'YAY!'"

Waiting for Joshua to come down the slide

She got a handful of mulch and was
tickled with her findings!

BBUURR!

Kayla's first time riding in the shopping cart.  She loved it!
She just kept looking around bright eyed and smiling.

Just hanging around!
