Joshua's Birthday Part 2

On the actual day of Joshua's b-day we went out to eat with family at one of our favorite restaurants, Red Robin....YYUUMMMM!

Reading his card from Omah and Papa.

Reading his new book!

I was so excited to have the servers sing to Joshua.  I really thought he would like it.  I prepped him the whole day so he wouldn't be caught off guard when they started singing to him. I clapped and sang to him just the way they do it at Red Robin and I told him over and over that they were going to sing to him.
Here he was all ready for them to sing and then as soon as they started he got startled and started crying.  I think it was the loud clapping and their booming voices that he wasn't expecting.  It was so sad but also a little funny.  He panicked and tried to get out of his high chair but had no where to go.  Poor birthday boy!

This was going to be Joshua's first ice cream sundae.  He took one lick of the whipped cream on the cherry but that's it; he wanted nothing to do with that ice cream.  Is this my child?

Omah trying to get him to take a bite of his ice cream.

Instead of eating his ice cream he enjoyed some of Daddy's shake.  Okay, he does like ice cream, he is my child.  WHEW! ;)

Trying to show you that he is "2" with his fingers.  Before he was two when I would ask him how old he is he would say, "one minute."  I must tell him that a lot. Now when you ask him he says "two" while trying to hold up two fingers.  He sometimes says, "two minutes."

Happy B-day my big 2 year old!  We love you!

Joshua's 2nd B-day Celebration part 1

My poor Joshua boy just wasn't his usual self for his b-day party.  Early in the week he came down with a fever. I finally took him to the doctor the day before his big day and found out that he had a double ear infection (his first ear infection and it was a double one.  So sad).  The doctor said that he wasn't contagious and that he should be feeling better by party time.  Since he woke up in a good mood and seemed to be feeling better we decided to go ahead with the party.

We did a small Mickey Mouse themed pizza party with family at the park.

Rolling up to his party!  "Park!"

Notice Joshua's unfrosted "cupcake" on the left.  It was a sweet potato and carrot muffin that he loves!  Hey, it wouldn't be a b-day party if I didn't make him something healthy for his cake would it? In all fairness I was going to put a little frosting on it this year but things got a little busy and I didn't have time to make a healthier version of frosting for him.  Oh well, he didn't mind one bit.

Of course he loved the balloons.

Aunt Sydney Cheesin'.

Auntie Brooke and Mimi adoring sweet Kayla Girl.

We were thrilled that Uncle Shawn, Auntie Anna, and Cousin Noah were in town for his b-day.  He loves his cousin Noah!

Present time!  It took some bribing to get him to want to open his presents.  I think it was partly because he doesn't yet know that a present is something fun and also because he just wasn't feeling good.  I finally had to tell him that one of his presents was a kite (from Aunt Lala and Uncle Lulu) and we had to go find it.  He loves kites so that did the trick!
Uncle Lulu and Aunt Lala helping him open his presents.

Opening one of Omah and Papa's presents.

Bronco football from Aunt Diane.

Kite flying time!  He loved watching Uncle Lulu fly his kite!  This was pretty much the only time during his party that I felt like he was acting like his happy self.

Aunt Diane with Cousin Noah.

Aunt Lala helping him climb the big boy ladder.

After spending an hour at the park we moved the party back to the house after the rain clouds started to roll in.
Playing with his new fish game with Omah.

Of course the adults had to get in on the action.  I love this picture because it totally represents Daniel's family...everything is a good competition.  They take games, all games, very seriously!

Aunt Anna can always be found holding a baby!  She loves her nieces and nephews and they love her!

Update on Joshua's ear infection:  His body didn't respond to the first antibiotic so they put him on something stronger (gulp, I hate having to give him an antibiotic in the first place but now something stronger?!  I know it needed to be done though).  He is feeling much, much better.  So very happy to have my silly boy back!

Stay tuned for part 2 of J-Bows b-day!

Happy 2nd Birthday to Joshua

Dear Joshua,

Today you are two years old!  Life with you has been so much fun!  You such a smart, curious, funny, and affectionate little guy.  You love learning new things and are such a sponge with a great memory! You are also very observant!

People are always commenting on how well you talk and your big vocabulary.  You tell stories, recall events and have even started making some jokes.

When we are out in public we often hear that you look like a little football player.  We have heard that since you were ity bity.

Right now some of your favorite things are going to the park and library, playing with other kids, reading books, turning anything and everything into a baseball bat, football, playing outside, finding toys we hide for you, learning new things, Mickey Mouse and eating snacks.

You are such a sweet big brother.  You like holding Kayla, laying next to her on the floor and talking to her in a sweet high pitched baby voice.  You are (for the most part) very gentle with her.

I pray that this next year your understanding of God would grow deeper and you would understand how much He loves you!

You my son, were created to do great, big things and I can't wait to watch you discover all that the Lord has planned for you!

All My Love,

Your Mama
