Kayla's 7 Month Update

Happy 7 Months to Miss Kayla Grace!  Here is what she is doing at 7 months...

*She loves smiling at her big brother.  She has even started to laugh at his silliness for the first time which is SO.MUCH.FUN!

*She has the sweetest spirit and the best little grin!  I don't really know how to put it into words, you will just have to trust me that it really is the sweetest ever!

*She is a great eater and has yet to meet a food that she didn't like.  She eats after her 11am feeding and 5pm feeding.  I am making her baby food and so far she has had avocados, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, bananas, yellow squash, peas, carrots, pumpkin and oatmeal.

*She has no problem getting a toy that is out of her reach.  She will roll, get on her hands and knees and lunge forward, and has recently started inching herself forward in an army crawl fashion.  She is sooo close to crawling...we think anyway.

*She cut her bottom 2 teeth and whew that was no fun for anyone.

*She nurses 4 (sometimes 5) times a day and once early in the morning around 4-5am then goes right back to sleep.

*I think she might be in the process of dropping her 3rd nap.  Lately her 2nd nap has been so long most days that she doesn't need the 3rd one.  She naps great at home but seems to struggle when we are at someone else's house.  She is in bed by 6:15pm for the night and is up between 7am and 8am for the day.

*She is doing really well sitting up but I still like to put the Boppy around her to help break her fall.
All her toys and this empty wipes package is her very favorite thing to play with right now.

Sweet Pumpkins...

It was a little breezy this day and Kayla was in awe watching the leaves blowing all around.

Watching the Broncos with Aunt Anna.

*Most days we try to get out for a walk and/or a trip to the park.  Gotta take advantage of this fall weather before the snow comes.

Joshua likes for Kayla to go in the tunnel with him.  He also loves taking her down the small slide, with my help of course.

She loves, loves the Moby!   She goes limp and becomes dead weight when in the Moby.  She hardly moves or makes a sound.

*She loves watching her big brother.   As you can see he takes very good care of her.  One day she was crying as I was changing her diaper and Joshua came over and as he was loving on her said, "I will protect you!"  AWE!

A few of Joshua's friends joining her in the jumper.

I am starting to think that when they are both on the floor doing their own thing Kayla thinks they are really playing together.

Hanging out with Great Aunt Diane.
Snuggles from Omah.
We are all so in love with this sweet face!

To me they started out looking very much alike.  In fact, I think one of the first things I said to Kayla when she was born was, "You look just like your brother."  As Kayla gets older and develops her own look I still think you can tell they are siblings.  What do you think?

Kayla's Baby Dedication

On October 19th we stood with our family before our church to dedicate our Sweet Kayla Grace to the Lord.  She is God's gift to us.  He has given her to us to raise and to love and to teach her about His ways.  We stood before friends and family declaring that we are committed to "Training her up in the way she should go, And when she is old she will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6.

Omah and Kayla before the dedication.

My boys before the dedication.

I love how she is reaching back towards her Daddy and brother.

Joshua and Omah sneaking in some high fives.

Praying for our sweet girl!

Right after we were done Joshua reached over to Kayla and started loving on her.

Big hugs from Big Brother.

Afterwards family came over to celebrate with food and fellowship.

Joshua and Kayla are blessed to have family members who are such Godly examples and who love them dearly!

Mommy and Joshua's Special Date

Joshua and I went on our first Frozen Yogurt date and had a blast!  When he got up from his nap I told him that him and Mommy were going to go on a special date; just me and him.  He was so excited!  He couldn't wait to go get some "yogurt ice cream" as he kept calling it.

I gave him his bowl and started to list the flavors for him but he run up to the first machine and just held up his cup.  He didn't even know the flavor all he knew was that he wanted to fill his bowl before Mom changed her mind.

YUM, honey vanilla Greek yogurt mixed with strawberry.  Then he saw the cereal and like every little kid he wanted some on his yogurt...I will never understand cereal and frozen yogurt.

I sure do love this boy!

Afterwards we hung out and drew on the chalk table.  He loved it!  He kept saying "not at home" meaning "we cant color on the table at home."

As he was erasing his masterpiece with all his might he would say, "This is stubborn."

On our way home he said, "Kayla is saying 'hey, where's my Joshua boy?'"

I love the time I get to spend with him one on one outside of the house.  It is really funny how the dynamics change when you have just one child to focus on.
