Fearfully and Wonderfully Made: K's 6 Month Update

Dear Baby Kayla,

I can hardly believe that you are half a year old! Time is flying and you are growing so fast! You are so sweet, cuddly and easy going.

In honor of your half birthday we made pancakes and enjoyed them for you ;)

"Don't mind if I do."

Here is what you are doing at 6 months old...

*You are working so hard at crawling. You get up on your knees and rock. You also kick your feet our from under you sending yourself forward.

*You love to roll all over the place.

*You can sit unassisted for a few seconds at a time before toppling over.

*Mom and Dad are pretty sure that you starting to recognize your name.

*You have started eating solids once a day (dinnertime) and you seem to really enjoy it. So far you have had sweet potatoes and avocados. The first night you were given avocados I had to finally cut you off so you didn't get a tummy ache. You just kept eating and eating it. You are becoming quit the beggar already. The other day I was sitting by you while I was eating my snack and you were looking longingly at my snack. Then you got pretty upset when you couldn't have it.

*Last month I wrote about how you would lay your head down on my chest once I started singing you a song right before laying you down for bed. Now you start kicking your feet and bouncing up and down with such excitement. Not sure if dancing is in your bones or if you are just that excited to be taking a nap but it is so cute!

*Most days your schedule looks like this:

6:30/7ish-wake up and nurse

8:30-11 Nap
11-wake up and nurse
12:30-230 Nap
2:30- Wake up and nurse

4-4:45- Nap

5- Solids

6:15/6:630- Nurse and in bed

You go down pretty peacefully for the first two naps and fuss a bit more for the third nap.

Head: 16.5 inches (50%)

First time drinking water from a sippy cup. You love your sippy cup and do pretty well with it. When you see it you start reaching for it as you kick your feet with excitement. Since you don't take a bottle I have put breast milk in your sippy cup which was a success, yay!

I asked Joshua to bring Kayla one of his letter bath toys and he brought them all to you.

I think you are teething but we have been saying that for a couple months now. Some days your gums are so red and swollen and I just know teeth are coming and then the next day they are nice and pink and back to normal. Anyhow, you can always be found with something in your mouth.
