4 months already?!

Here is what the little dude has been up to:
  • He weighs 14 lbs 15 ounces and is 26 inches long putting him in the 50th percentile for weight and 80th for height
  • He is a phenomenal sleeper.  I put him down around 7 and I usually don't see him until 7 (give or take) the next morning!
  • Every morning I sing him a good morning song when I get him up.  (good morning to you, good morning to you, good morning dear Joshua good morning to you.  Sung to the tune of happy b-day).  He just loves it.  He gets the biggest smile on his face.  He feels extra special on the weekends when Mommy and Daddy BOTH sing him the song.
  • We thinkg the teething process has begun.  No teeth are poking through yet but he is drooling a lot more, his cheeks get red, and he loves chewing on things especially my finger.
  • He is quit the cuddle bug which I just love!
  • Comments we hear a lot are: 1) he looks just likes his daddy 2) look at all that hair.  3) It looks like he got a little crew cut 4) he is going to be a football player (Daddy LOVES this comment) 5) He looks so curious
  • He no longer takes a pacifier.  Around 10 or 11 weeks he just decided he did like it anymore.  He would get so mad when we would try to give it to him.
  • He is officially a left handed thumb sucker and I think is the cutest thing EVER!
  • He is laughing!!!  It is funny because what makes him laugh one day makes him just stare at you like you are crazy the next.  He laughs at really random things and most of the time we aren't trying to make him laugh.  It sure is the best sound!
  • He has been more interested in Aspen watching her walk around.  The feeling is mutual as Aspen has started to sniff him a little more and lay by him on his blanket.  Before she would just walk away when I would tell her "gentle" or "no lick"
  • He enjoys being read to.  I try to read to him once a day.  It really holds his attention and he really studies the pictures.
  • He likes to look at himself in the mirror.  When I put him in front a mirror he usually smiles at himself.
  • He is the most kissable thing!  He must get at least 500 kisses a day from us.
Sometimes when he is napping I think about life before him and how the baby we use to imagine is really here.  It seems so surreal sometimes.  I just can not believe he is mine!  He has turned our world upside down for the better.  He has stolen our hearts that is for sure!

And here are some pictures from the past month
We call this his melatonin smile.  He was trying so hard to stay awake on our walk.  Doesn't he look loopy?

When he sucks his thumb instead of curling his fingers he puts them over his face.

What a big boy!

Yum, tasty hand!  May I have another?

On our way to our first MOPs meeting.

All bundled up for a morning walk.
Tummy time.

Doing one of his favorite things...playing with his tongue.  Sometimes he tries to grab his tongue with his pointer finger and thumb.

"Okay, I'm all ready to eat now."  Not really.  I just cleaned up his booster seat and thought we would put him in there for fun.

He loves grabbing this rattle!  He tries to pull it into his mouth.

Some day we will have a family portrait where he is smiling and looking at the camera.  Papa tried really hard to get him to do those two things.  He gets an A for effort.

Joshua’s first of many Broncos Parties

If you know Daniel and his family, you know that they are die hard Bronco fans.  One of our favorite parts of living close to family is that we can get together for almost all the games.  I could honestly careless about the game but I do love the football parties we have with both our families.  Here are some pictures of Joshua’s first Bronco party.
 Bronco Family!

Watching the game with Aunt Anna.

 Tebow fans!

He's a Tebow fan already though he has some growing to do to fit into that jersey.

Joshua and Papa.

Happy Anniversary!

Daniel,

Today we celebrate 7 years of wedded bliss together and 7 years later you never cease to amaze me.  You are a man of great honor and integrity.  You are humble and kind and you have taught me so much about this game called Life.  I love you with all that I am!

In honor of 7 fabulous years together here are 7 things that I love about us:
1.      We really are each other’s best friend
2.      How we can turn any situation into a friends quotable
3.      We are equally committed to investing time in our marriage
4.      We always make bets and then laugh because they are always silly ones
5.      The fun and sometimes deep conversations we have while laying in bed
6.      We both value family time
7.      We have a lot of fun traditions
8.      Bonus for fun:  Bonus because it is something I love about you rather than “us.”  I love that you never say no to me when I want to buy something.  You just work it into the budget somehow.
I have said it before and I will say it again, you truly are my best friend.  I couldn't imagine walking through this journey with anyone else but you by my side.  Thank you for who you are and for the woman you have encouraged me to be!

My We look young.  Guess that's because we were ;)
AWE!

It's official, Joshua is a left handed thumb sucker and Mom thinks it’s the cutest thing EVER!

When I was pregnant with Joshua Dan’s uncle Kirk told me how parents take a million pictures of their child doing same thing. I knew this was true but didn’t realize just HOW true it was until I had Joshua. During the first 2 months I was obsessed with taking bath time photos. He just looked so cute hanging out with all those bubbles. Now I am completely obsessed with taking pictures of him sucking his thumb. I cannot help myself. I suppose this is how it will be every time he learns to do something new.

He is Growing Up Too Fast

I’ve always heard Moms say that their kids grow up way too fast.  I am learning just how true that is.

Today as I was packing up Joshua’s 3 month old clothes I just kept thinking, “When did you get so big?”  When you spend all day every day with you baby you don’t really see the changes as much as other people do.  People always comment on how big he is getting or how different he looks.  I don’t really see the changes until I look at pictures or I try to squeeze him into an outfit that fit just fine last week but is too snug this week.
After I packed up his clothes I had a little chat with him.  I told him that he has to stay just like he is forever.  I know him growing up is sort of the point of this whole deal but he is doing it way too fast.  As I just stood there gazing at my son, totally in awe that he is all mine, I realized that he is going to grow up and go to kindergarten one day.  He was wearing one of my favorite sports onesies and I was reminded about when I bought it before he was born.  I was so excited for him to wear it.  I remember putting it on him for the first time.  It was a little big but still fit okay.  Daniel and I were so excited to see him in it.  Now, it needs to be retried as it has become too tight.  I can’t help but ask myself, “When did he grow out of this once-too-big-shirt?”

So, on we move into 6 month old clothes and those too will someday soon, too soon, be packed up as well.
I am committed to living in the moment and savoring these sweet moments because in a blink of an eye they will be just memories.
