The week before Easter we went to our neighborhood's annual Eggstravaganza which is always so much fun.
Waiting for the hunt to begin.
Joshua's favorite part was riding the train. He would wave to people as he rode by. During the ride we saw him mouthing something. When we asked him what he was saying he said, "I think I can, I think I can" (from the Little Engine That could).
Kayla's favorite part was probably the animals.
As we were waiting for the hunt to begin the lady manning the eggs asked Joshua how many eggs he was going to get and he said, "A LOT!"
He was so funny during this hunt. He just started throwing eggs in his basket one right after the other. Once he was satisfied with the amount of eggs he got he sat right in the middle of the hunt to open them up.
Checking out his loot.
Lucky for him all the eggs had stickers in him (one of his favorite things), not so lucky for Mom and Dad since we like candy.
Joshua opened all his eggs and put the sticers on his arm.
The decorated end result.
Showing Kayla his goods.
Happy as can be with an empty Easter egg.
The week leading up to Easter we did a couple Easter themed snacks. One was a fruit and grape cross kabob which Joshua thought was an airplane and started flying it around in the air. LOL!
Next up was our resurrection rolls. He loved cutting the "tomb" open by himself with his own knife and seeing that the marshmallow was gone. It was empty just like the tomb of Jesus.
Reviewing the Easter Story. The cutest part during all of this was when Joshua asked, "Does He (Jesus) love me when I do bad things?" More than you could ever imagine my sweet boy! I love sharing these truths with him!
The day before Easter we went over to Omah and Papa's house for a big Easter egg coloring party with all the Colorado cousins. As we were headed out to leave for Omah and Papa's Joshua kept saying, "The funnest Easter Party." We hadn't even arrived yet and it was already the most fun Easter party in his book. He also told me, "I am going to hug Willem and River." He loves his cousins.
Omah and Papa's house was jammed packed with kids running around being loud and it was oh so much fun! Childhood memories in the making.
Waiting for the egg coloring to start.
The babies watching the big kids color Easter eggs.
So focused.
After we colored eggs Uncle Andrew and Aunt Anna hid the eggs for the kids to find.
Off to find the eggs.
River and her treasure.
Digging into his goods.
MMM, hard boiled egg.
The funniest part of this day for me was during dinner when Joshua would sing his favorite song, God's Not Dead, and change the ending which had all his cousins cracking up. He was eating up all the attention his big cousins were giving him.
All the cousins went out for a hike and got rained on. Joshua thought that was soooo neat. When I asked him what his favorite part of the day was he said hiking and getting wet. The next morning when we told him we were going back to Omah and Papa's house one of the first things he said was that he wanted to go hiking again. When we told him we could definitely do that he asked in hopefully expectation, "is it raining?"
We are so thankful to be able to have our kids grow up with family and make lots of fun memories!
