Art For Baby Brother's Room

The kids made art to go in their Baby Brother's room.

This was Kayla's first time painting and she loved every minute of it...except for when her brush was out of paint.  When that happened she would reach over to the paint with her brush and grunt for more.

She of course had to taste the paint and then tried painting her hair.

Here is the finished product.

I wasn't planning on doing a patriotic theme.  It just so happened that Joshua's tissue paper art (top left) was red and white and Kayla painted with blue paint (bottom right).  So I decided to continue with that theme and make flag hand prints.

The bottom left is a letter Joshua wrote to the baby and it is the sweetest letter ever.

Here is what he told me to write.
Dear Baby Brother,
I can’t wait to hug him and kiss him.
I love playing toys with my little baby brother.  Write that!
I can’t wait to eat breakfast and dinner with my baby brother.  Write that!
I can’t wait to sleep with my baby brother.
I can’t wait to play with my baby brother.  “Write that!”
I can’t wait to go to Omah and Papa’s and with my brother.  “Write that!”
 Love,
Joshua

Someone is very excited to have another little one join the family!  He is already loved so much!

Baby Brother's Lovey

One day Joshua randomly told me, "When the new baby comes we will have to get him something to sleep with."  He was referring to a lovey such as his Poor Dog and Kayla's Polar Bear.  Then he said, "Maybe he can have my dolly."  Isn't he the sweetest?!

I told him we would go to the store and pick out a special lovey for the new baby and he could bring it to him in the hospital.

So a few weeks later off we went to Toys R Us to pick out a lovey for the baby.

Kayla loved testing out all the stuffed animals to help find the right one for her brother.

Putting "the one" on the cart.  He was way too busy and
interested in other things to pose for a picture.
I suppose Toys R Us has that effect on kids.

Happy Father's Day 2014

Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy Joshua and Kayla could ever dream of.  Daniel is such a fun, loving and patient Dad and the kids just love goofing around with him.

We kicked off Father's Day weekend by baking Daddy's favorite treat, chocolate chip cookies.

Joshua was all into tasting the dough.  Every time we added a new
ingredient he would ask, "Can I take a taste?"  "Can I take a taste of
the salt?  Can I taste the flour?"

For Daniel's card I asked Joshua to fill in the blank "What I like about my Daddy and what I like to do with my Daddy..."  Here are Joshua's responses...
  • he plays toys and mows the lawn
  • play trains
  • be Broncos
  • watch Broncos
  • play catch
When I asked him what it means to be Broncos he said, "You know when we wear our jerseys."  I love it!

The morning of Father's Day Joshua and I took Daniel out for coffee while Aunt Sydney came to the house during Kayla's morning nap.  Joshua enjoyed muffins, donuts, and a smoothie that was made out of only ice and juice and was about as big as him.  Needless to say he was on a sugar high.  He was so goofy on the way home making the strangest noises and then laughing at himself.

That afternoon we went over to Daniel's Mom and Dad's house to celebrate Daniel's Dad which also happens to be one of the best Papa's around :)

Getting a bouncy ride!

While at Omah and Papa's house I told Joshua to put his
shoes by the front door...and that is exactly what he did.

What a great weekend celebrating great Dads!

June Happenings

Summer is in full swing around here and we are loving every minute of it.  Here is what our days looked like in June.

Science Experiments...

Making a volcano.

As soon as it bubbled up his reaction was to back up as fast as he
could to get away from it.  This was the same reaction he had when we did this last summer.

Sun prints.

I love his face.  He was so surprised at the outcome.

Hanging out at the pool...

We go to the pool about 1-2 times a week.  I was a little unsure how I was going to be able to handle taking two kids to the pool by myself but so far it has been great!  Joshua does a great job with his floaties and Kayla has a little floatie lounger she just hangs out in though she is starting to not want to be restrained and wanting more freedom.  Might need to look into floaties for her size.  If we aren't in the big pool are playing in the kiddie pool where Kayla crawls and crawls until I go rescue her from going under water and repeat until I get too worn out to chase her.

First picnic at the pool of the season.

We love when Daddy can come to the pool with us!

Look at that face.  Pure delight!  She was having such a great time!

Popcorn, popsicles and forts oh my..

It doesn't get much better than this for a little boy does it?!

CFA's Pirate and Princess Day...

Joshua dressed up as a pirate for CFA's Pirate and Princess day.  I didn't get a picture of Joshua dressed up because he was too busy playing but I did get these of Kayla and the cow.

She spotted the cow.

He's coming her way!

Fun at the park...

Playing outside...

Fun at the splash ground...

Notice whose water bottle she has?!

One of his favorite buddies, Cayden.

Lots and lots of water fun at home...

Playing with the noodle wall.

Bowl of shaving cream + tub of water+ farm animals= 1 whole hour of fun

She likes putting her face in the water.

Yes she sure did climb right on in the pool with her clothes on.

Having a "juice" party with Jake the Pirate and Mickey Mouse.

In preparation for baby number 3 we moved the car seats around to make room for the baby's seat and we also turned Kayla's seat forward facing.
Kayla's first ride faving forward.  She likes looking
out the window and asking, "what's that?"
Joshua likes to hold hands with her almost first thing
when we get in the car.

Snack time.

Joshua's favorite things to play with right now are a bungee cord, tape, and rubber bands.  He is constantly coming up with crazy ideas.

Poor Dog is zip lining.

I asked him to put this ball in our pool bag
(the yellow bag you see in the picture).  Guess he got distracted.
Either that or he thought the handle of the vacuum was a better spot.

He likes to tie a rope around his giraffe riding toy then tie it to his motorized car and tow it.  It kept coming undone so Daniel drilled a hole to tie the rope in.  Apparently the hole also makes for a good sunglass holder.

Kayla wore her first pony tail this month and looks absolutely adorable.  She hates getting her hair done and pulls it out any time she sees it in a mirror.

And this is what her hair looks like after we take her
pony tail out at the end of the day.

Omah and Papa took Joshua to a Rodeo.

Omah and Papa days...

Joshua just loves going to spend the day at Omah and Papa's.  I love how comfortable both the kids are there and how much fun they have.  It really is like a 2nd home for them.  Of course having a day to myself is nice too ;)

Pool time with Omah, Papa, and Aunt Anna...

As you can see our summer is off to a great start!
