May Happenings

Here is a look at some pictures from May.

Joshua made this train under our kitchen table and it stayed there for quit some time.  He loved pretending to drive the train.  He even ate his meals in it.

Kayla made her first master piece and Joshua was so happy for her.

Lovin on each other.

Sister girl still has absolutely no interest in crawling.  None! Zip! Zero! Nada! Zilch!  But she sure is a little climber.

Lately Joshua has been into the show Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Is this not the coolest pirate you ever did see?

The weather has finally warmed up enough to set up the kiddie pool.

Cornstarch and water science experiment.  Sensory play really keeps this boy busy for a long time.

We hatched our own butterflies which Joshua really enjoyed!  He can tell you the whole process.
Saying good bye to the butterflies before we let them go.

Watching them fly out.

Our big event happened at the end of May when we took an 8 hour road trip to Lincoln, NE to watch Daniel's cousin get married.  This was our first road trip with the kids.  The longest we have traveled with them is 3 hours.  We weren't looking forward to the drive but the kids actually did surprisingly well!  Joshua never once complained or said he wanted to get out of his seat and Kayla only got fussy like 2 times on the way there and once like 10 minutes before arrived home.

We stopped to eat at Wendy's for lunch and it was so crowded, mostly with older people!  Kayla was hamming it up for anyone and everyone.  She was doing her pageant wave at everyone.  It was so cute!

Here are all the activities I packed for the trip.  OCD? Maybe?  But hey they came in handy when the kids got antsy.  We probably only used half of them if that.  Better safe than sorry.

Jake the Pirate using his map to tell us where to go.

We moved Kayla from her carrier car seat to a 5 point harness car seat right before the trip.  She loved her new seat!  I knew it was time to switch her over when just about every time I would put her in her carrier she would lean forward to try and sit up and I had to basically force her down to strap her in.

Before the trip I loaded up the Kindle with shows for Joshua.  He thought that was such a treat.  He couldn't wait to test it out.  We hadn't even left the subdivision before he was asking to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  That thing was a huge sanity saver.

Kayla passed out with her polar bear.

Playing with a magnet board.

Somebody snatched Poor Dog and by the look on her face she isn't sorry one bit.

Look who is sleeping with Poor dog and who isn't...

Joshua let Kayla sleep with Poor Dog.  What a sweet big brother.

I bought some binoculars from the dollar store for the trip.  We were about 3 hours away from Lincoln when I gave them to Joshua.  He looked out the window with them and declared, "I see Lincoln!"

We made it!
Some Ping Pong with Daddy and Uncle Andrew.

During our drive he told us, "I am going to ask Noah, 'Do you watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates?'"  He was so excited to show Noah his favorite show.

Grandpa fell during the trip and was unable to get out of bed so we moved Kayla's chair in his room so they could enjoy breakfast together.

Sweet Giovanni with Great Grandpa.

Joshua just loved playing Giovanni.  Before our trip he was asking if he could crawl.  I told him no but he can roll.  So one of the first things he asked was if we could put Van on the floor and watch him roll around.  He asked to do that several times throughout the trip.  He was so gentle with him and loved giving him hugs.  He is ready to be a big brother again!

"Hey Joshua, I am talking to you."
Wedding and reception time!

The Bride and Groom!

Kayla keeping herself entertained during the ceremony.  See all the papers behind her?!

When I asked Joshua what his favorite part of the wedding was he said, "Matt and Sarah!"

First Father Daughter Dance ;)  I cant believe someday they will be dancing at her wedding.

Funny to see how different Joshua and Kayla are.  The dance floor was not Joshua's thing, however it was totally Kayla's.  She crawled out there with all the little kids and started dancing.  She was having a good 'ol time.

We had such a fun time.  I loved watching all the cousins play together and make memories.
