Rainy day fort making.
We couldn't take one more day being trapped inside so I took all three kids to CFA for a morning treat of fries, parfaits, and some playtime.
One weekend we all just had enough of the rain and were going stir crazy. Daddy declared this particular night family pizza and movie night. Finding Nemo was the showing. Kayla didn't sit through the whole movie but totally loved it. She knew this was something special and was just so giddy playing around in the living room while the movie was on.
And finally the sun came out, the rain went away and we were all so excited to get out and start enjoying summer (okay it is still spring but school is out here so I consider that summertime).
We were all so anxious to enjoy the pool so on one of the first warmer/sunny day after the rain Joshua wanted to get out the swimming pool. It was 68 and sunny. Warm in the sun but not warm enough to swim but he was convinced otherwise. So we got out our pool and to my surprise they actually swam in it for much longer than I thought they would. Kayla stayed in the longest.
Celebrating our neighbor's 5th b-day with bowling. Not to brag or anything but my boy did win ;)

Our backyard isn't the most kid friendly since it is sloped. So we are having a small portion of it leveled off for a play area for the kids. Joshua has had a lot of fun playing in the dirt.

Joshua's favorite part was the arcade.
He absolutely loved playing air hockey (mom's favorite) with Daddy. He is cracking up in this picture.
A little Skeeball action...Mom's other favorite arcade game.
Kayla nursed this skeeball forever.
I love this sweet smile!
Our fishing snack. Fishing for gold fish with peanut butter on pretzel rods. Doesn't that sound appetizing? The kids loved it!
My little sous chef helping me with scrambled eggs.
Well at least she stayed busy and quiet for quite some time so Daddy and I could get some chores done ;)
Lunch, a little show, and popsicle with our neighbor friend who both kids just love!
This girl....so cute!
Joshua put this sign on his fort and according to him it says, "No adults allowed because you are too big."
Miss Kayla learned how to put on her shoes all by herself. All I can say is, "at least they are on the right feet :)"
My shopping buddies.
And now for a quick update on the fun things the two big kids were doing in May...
*Some of Kayla's new phrases included, "guess what?, Need that, Go away, no way." And my favorite, "Awe man!" Her use of it is perfect. When a movie she was watching at Omah and Papa's house got turned off she said, "awe man!" One day her pants were unbuttoned so as she was walking around they fell down and she said, "awe man!" A few times she has also called me mom instead of mommy. Not sure where she got that from because J still calls me Mommy.*Most of her pretend drinks are coffee.
*At the beginning of the month Daniel, myself and Levi all caught Kayla's stomach bug on the same day. Say what? Moms and Dads are not suppose to get sick at the same time. Anyway, when I told Kayla that Mommy didn't feel good she stopped what she was doing, folded her hands and said, "pray." She did this twice.
*I painted her toe nails for the first time and she was thrilled as could be.
*She is so nurturing and has such a motherly instinct. She loves to cradle things in her arms and rock them and shhh them like little babies. I have seen her do this with tiny, tiny dolls that go to her doll house, dinosaurs, Legos, you name it,. Our neighbor has a 7 week old baby. The kids were out playing and as I was talking to my neighbor her baby was crying. Kayla stopped playing and started holding her arms like she was cradling the baby and just started rocking and saying, "shhhh." The instinct is just in her.
*She has named her bear and baby that she sleeps with Levi (E-I).
*When she is our room she almost always goes into my top drawer of my night stand, gets my chpastick and says, "daddy's" and then takes it and puts it in his top drawer.
*Sometimes when she wakes from nap I hear her in her room calling for "Josh-Josh!!!."
*She loves putting her baby and stuffed animals in all of Levi's different baby equipment. Her favorite is to put them in Levi's high chair and then get a spoon and bowl and "feed" them. She also loves putting them all "night-night" in different rooms of the house.
*When we read this book she almost always points to this particular picture and says, "Me."
*Joshua likes when we leave him little notes. He has ac ollection going on a clip board in his room.
*Kayla fell down a few steps on the staircase. Joshua didn't see it happen he just heard it and he started crying. He was really upset. When I asked why he was crying he said because he was worried she got hurt. She didn't. She was totally fine. A little later when we were talking about the incident he told me, "I wasn't brave about that."
*After Joshua got some string cheese out of the fridge he asked Daniel to shut the fridge for him. After Daniel did Joshua randomly said to him, "Thanks for all you do." So sweet.
*When Kayla was a newborn Joshua still liked for me to carry him up the stairs. In order to get him to walk up the stairs on his own I would throw his dog up and we would "race" to go get him. Kayla still likes being carried while I am carrying Levi. So one day I said, "I am going to do what I use to do with Joshua." Then I threw her bear up the stairs and Joshua so innocently asked, "you used to throw me up the stairs?"
*Joshua will randomly say to me, "I have one beautiful Mommy."
*We made a graph of the different color trains. He is so into math and science and is one smart kid.
Until next month....
