Castle Rock Hike

We took a family (minus one munchkin) hike up to the base of The Rock.  This was Kayla's first time and Joshua hasn't been up there since he was about 1 year or so.   Both kids were so excited!  I told them a few months ago that one day we would hike The Rock and eat lunch up there while Omah and Papa watch Levi.  So for months whenever we would drive past the Rock...which is almost daily Kayla would say, "Climb the rock and eat lunch up there.  Omah and Papa watch Levi."

Before the start of the hike (and I just realized that Joshua's shirt is too small for him)

Daddy carried Kayla all the way up and all the way down.  I was so surprised she wanted to be carried.  I thought for sure she would want to walk herself.

Off and running.

And we made it!

Time for some lunch.

Admiring how big the rock is.

We had a great time.  The kids enjoyed the views and how high we were.  They had fun waving at all the cars on the highway and we even saw a couple of trains go by on the tracks.  Joshua slipped and fell two times, Kayla and Mommy one time and Daddy zero :)

Now when we drive by The Rock (or any butte) the kids love to say, "We hiked up there!" Next time when we have more time Joshua wants to climb the top of the actual Rock.
