March

Here is our March update.

Joshua:
*He can count to 100 by 10's and 39 by ones.  After 39 he needs a little help getting to 100.
*3 months later and he is still singing Christmas songs.  His two favorites are Carol of the Bells and Frosty the Snowman.  He has pretty much made up all his own lyrics to Carol of the Bells.  My favorite line goes, "Oh Harry thumb, God is the way."  And Frosty usually goes like this, "Frosty the Snowman was a barely jolly happy soul."
*He asks some really deep and intelligent questions that often stop me in my tracks and make me think to myself, "WOW!  This kid is smart!"
*He is so creative and patient when constructing things.  His imagination is big!

Kayla:
*Kayla got her first real timeout this month.  She thought it was the greatest thing!  When I told her she had to go to timeout she said very happily, "Okay!" Then she sat in timeout so proud.  When she tried getting out before it was time I told her to go back and she ran back so happy.  Afterwards she kept telling Daniel and me, "timeout" (mout) while pointing to herself.  As if she was saying, I went to timeout."  Oh boy!  She was so happy to be doing something that she sees Joshua doing.
*When we ask Kayla if she needs help doing something she responds with, "I got it."
*When you ask her how old she is she says, "2."  When you ask her how old any of us are she says, "1." (un)
*She is saying more and more words and 2 and 3 word sentences.
*She says her name, "Kay-Kay" and Joshua is "Jaw-Josh." Levi is still referred to as, "baby" by her.
*When we drive by a construction site she says, "mess."
*When we say we are going to do something that she doesn't want to she will respond with, "night."  Like she is trying to tell us, "Let's do that tonight, not now."

Such a busy girl.

She either didn't nap this day or took a very, very short nap.
Either way, she crashed on our short afternoon walk.  Now when
I tell her we are going for a walk she tells me, "night-night."

Testing out his golf clubs.

Joshua has mastered his bike and loves riding around and around in the cul-de-sac.  He has even figured out how to stand up and pedal to help get more momentum going up hills.  He knows how to put on and take off his helmet.  (It really is the small things in  Mommy-hood. One less thing for me to do).

Kayla loves her little bike too.  She still has to grow about 1 more inch before she can pedal so she just rips around on it using her feet and boy is she fast!  She flies down the driveway and the hill at that goes into the cul-de-sac stopping at the last possible millisecond before crashing into the curb.

Fun at the library.

This picture cracks me up!  Kayla is sporting quite a few "owies" right now.  Anytime anyone asks her about anyone of them she then has to show you ALL owies.  That means taking off bother shoes to show the owies on both feet from her sandals and lifting her shirt to show a scrape.  In this picture she was showing the neighbor boys all her owies and she sure had their undivided attention.  Joshua had to get in on the owie showing action too.

She likes to make a seat out of things that are low to the ground.  Right after
I took this picture the drawer popped open and she fell in.

Bath time buddies.

Playing with our homemade catapult.  He loves science.

We watched our friends dog for about a week.  The kids loved it. The first morning the  dog was here I heard the garage door open.  I knew it wasn't Daniel leaving for work because he had left about 10 minutes prior.  So I looked out the window to see Joshua in his pj's and coat taking Chocco on a quick morning walk around the cul-de-sac.  When I asked him about it he told me he was whining so he thought he wanted to go for a walk.  He is such a responsible pet sitter :)

Choco claimed the kids chair.

Unfortunately, toward the end of his stay he bit Joshua on the finger and drew some blood.  Joshua was playing with him and I think the dog just had enough.  After that, the kids weren't so fond of him.

Joshua has learned how to fold and loves it.  I am
not sure who taught him but he sure is good at it.  Here are
the towels he folded.  Such a big helper.

Joshua and Kayla are such good buddies.  They are playing more and more together with less and less fighting.

Kayla just randomly sat in Joshua's lap.

Aunt Sydney spent one of her Spring Breaks days with us and the kids loved it.  When we dropped her off Joshua said, "I miss her."

They both had a cold this month.  On this particular day Kayla wasn't feeling well, was whiny, and wanted to be held a lot.  I finally got her to realize the awesomeness of just laying on the couch and watching t.v. to rest.

Of course Joshua had to get in on the "I am sick and need to rest" action.
