Kayla's Birthday Celebration

We had been talking about Kayla's b-day for a few weeks and I am not sure who was more excited, her or Joshua.  The week leading up to her b-day Joshua would tell us how many more days left until her b-day.  I love that he was excited to celebrate his sister.

When we mentioned her b-day to her, Kayla would always responded with, "cake!" When we responded with, "yes we will have cake" she would say, "More."  Her party hadn't even happened yet and she was already asking for more cake.  That's our girl!

The morning of her b-day Joshua came down stairs and exclaimed, "Kayla's birthday!!!"  when he saw all the decorations.

Here are Joshua's contributions to the decorating.
He wrote the happy in this sign and then made the sticker collage and taped it to her chair to make it a special b-day chair.

What we have here is a string of shirt scraps tied  together that has been a favorite toy of Joshua's for quit some time (who needs expensive toys?).  Joshua put so much thought into finding the perfect place for this. He tried out several different places before finally settling on the kitchen island.

We kicked off Little Miss's b-day with some pancakes.

I love how she is looking up at me.

Family came over in the afternoon to help makes this birthday girl's day special.

I couldn't decide on a favorite picture of her with cake...

When she looked at her cake she said, "2!"

Watching a picture slide show of Kayla while
waiting for guest to arrive.  They both loved seeing all the pictures.
I love how they are sitting the same way.

Kayla enjoyed everyone singing to her...at first.  But right at the end I think she got a little overwhelmed and we almost lost her to tears.  I quickly  distracted her by telling her to blow out the candles.  She had been practicing for weeks and was excited to finally get to do it.
Joshua ran over as we were singing to give the birthday girl some birthday loves.

So sweet!

Seriously, there is always some sort of competition
happening when you get these brothers together.  The basketball
goal is sitting on the deck railing while they try to make baskets.

My favorite part during present time was when she opened her tea set that had liquid inside that would disappear when tilted as if you were really pouring tea. Her and Joshua both couldn't figure out why the liquid wasn't coming out.

Blowing everyone kisses before nap time.

Kayla proudly goes around telling people that she is 2 and anytime someone asks her, "how are you?" She always responds with, "2!"  Another funny thing is that whenever you ask her how old anyone of us are she says, "un" (one).  So we are all one and she is the only one who   is two.  Joshua thinks that is pretty silly.

Happy, happy birthday to the sweetest 2 year old in the whole world.
