Joshua Update

Here is an update on Joshua at 2 years and 9 months old.

*He is such a feeler.  When he hears other kids crying it usually makes him start crying.

*He knows opposites and has mastered rhyming words.  All throughout the day I hear, "Mommy does  ____ and ____ rhyme?" And "What is the opposite of ______."

*His favorite thing right now is trains!  He plays with his trains from sun up to sun down.  When leaving our subdivision there is a bridge we go under and sometimes we are lucky enough to see the train going over it.  The times when there is no train he says in a voice that reminds me of Eeyore, "No train today."

*I am constantly amazed at his memory and sense or direction.

*He knows his left from his right.

*He loves his baby sister but now that she is more mobile and likes to destroy his trains he is becoming less patient with her.

*He out eats me and Daniel almost every morning during breakfast but hardly eats a thing for dinner.  Guess that is why he is so hungry in the mornings.

*Most days he takes a three hour nap.  1 or 2 days a week he doesn't nap at all but will stay in his crib for the full three hours alternating between resting playing.  I love that even if he doesn't sleep he has no issue staying contently in his crib for so long.  I love listening to him over the monitor.  He has conversations with himself.  One day I heard this, "The fire alarm goes (fire alarm sound)." "Yea." "Then the fireman will come help me." "Yea, that's right."  He sleeps about 12-12.5 hours at night.

*People often comment on how good his manners are.  The nursery worker at church told me, "He always says 'please and thank you.'"

* He is big into privacy.  He goes to the bathroom all by himself.  As he is walking to the bathroom he declares, "I need my privacy."  Then he comes running out of the bathroom naked shouting, "I had my privacy!"  I peeked in on him taking a shower with Daddy and he shooed me away saying, "No Mommy, I need my privacy."

*Recently he started saying, "On to the day."  When we ask him where he heard it he says, "I just made it up."

*The other night he randomly told Daniel, "I look up to you Daddy."  Doesn't get much sweeter than that.

Watching Daddy play flag football and yelling, "tackle the guy Daddy!"

Breakfast date with Mom.
Drinking his "coffee."

His favorite thing about going to IHOP is all the syrups flavors.

Handyman Joshua!

Celebrating our neighbor Parker's b-day.  Joshua loves Parker and Riley.  He talks about them all the time.  He likes to make us pretend to be them.  "Mommy, you be Riley, Daddy you be Parker, and I will be Mrs. Carrie."  One day he randomly would say, "Maybe Parker and Riley are here" then he would go and open the front door to look.

He sure enjoys eating pomegranates.
Snow fun.

Sun bathing wishing Spring would hurry up and get here.

Testing out Kayla's swing.  He needed to make sure it was safe.

Future basketball star?  Daddy has been playing basketball on the same team as Uncle Andrew the past few months.  Ever since watching some of his games Joshua has been obsessed with playing basketball.  He gets in his little car with his basketball and declares, "I am going to my basketball game."  On this particular day he told me, "I am Uncle Andrew and you are Aunt Anna.  You sit on the fire pit and watch me play basketball."

Joshua's second dental cleaning!  The dentist kept commenting on what a good patient he was.  I prepped him before hand telling him that he was going to have to open his mouth real big for the dentist so as soon as she walked into the room he looked at her and opened up his mouth as wide as he could.

He is getting really good at his tricycle.  He does really well on flat surfaces and downhill but is still working on going uphill.

Mixing colors experiment.

Botanical Gardens with Omah, Papa, Aunt Anna, and Uncle Andrew.

I saw this idea online and since Joshua loves going to the car wash I thought he would enjoy taking his own cars through a car wash.  Which brings me to this question...IS SPRING TIME YET?  I am running out of indoor activities and we are all getting cabin fever!

We love this sweet, tenderhearted, strong willed child with all that is in us!
