Joshua update

Here is a little update on Joshua at 26 Months old.

* He is always saying something that makes me chuckle and when he does I call Daniel at work to tell him.  Now when I tell him, "that's funny."  He responds with, "tell Daddy."

*He recognizes almost all letters of the alphabet and he is starting to pick up on a few sounds as well.  He really enjoys doing things with letters and picks up on it so fast.  I tell him what sound a letter makes one time and he remembers.  Daddy was writing letters for him one morning and when he stopped he started crying, "write more letters!"

* He has a good understanding of the word yesterday.  Sometimes he wakes up in the morning and tells me things he did yesterday and he is right.  ("Eleinna played with my car yesterday."  I saw Omah and Papa yesterday")

* Some of his favorite words to use that crack me up are sometimes, (I go to the store sometimes), nope and yep said so matter of fact, probably, maybe, and later (Joshua, can I have a hug?"  "Later.")

* He also answers me with "I sure do/did" when I ask him if he did something.

*He really is a great big brother and adores his sister.  I like when I get him up in the morning or from nap and he is his usual happy self when I open the door but once he realizes I have Kayla he gets super excited.  He LOVES to get in her crib with her or have her lay in his crib.  He says, "Night night" and lays down with her and puts his arm over her.

* His new thing is to ask, "What's his name?"  "What's she doing?"  I love when we are out in public and he will ask someone, "what's your name?"

*We were eating at a restaurant the other day and after Daniel and I ordered our drinks Joshua told the waiter, "I will have water too."  How assertive, I love it!

*Along with putting on his own sandals he is starting to dress himself though his clothes almost always end up being put on backwards or both legs in the same short leg hole.  He has absolutely no problem getting every piece of clothing off.

* He still loves his sleep.  He happily heads up the stairs when I tell him that it's nap time even if he has a friend over he still heads to bed without a fight.  He currently sleeps about 12-12.5 hours at night and takes a 3 hour nap.

* When I am doing something like folding laundry he will encourage me and say, "Almost done Mommy."

* He has a heart of gratitude.  As he is eating his meals or snacks he will pause and tell me, "Thank you Mommy for this."  He will also very randomly tell me thank you for random toys.  "Thank you for my grill."  The other day he had a smoothie for breakfast and he told me, "Thank you Mommy for this smoothie and blueberry muffins."  The blueberry muffins he had a few days prior but I guess he really liked thank!

* He has recently gotten big into pretend play.  We play catch with imaginary balls, we drop the balls they roll away and we go get them.  We play with imaginary balloons, and when I "accidently" let mine go it blows away so he jumps real high to get it for me or he gets his imaginary ladder and climbs it to get it.  And it isn't unusual for the whole gang of Mickey Mouse to join us during our playtime.  I like when he tells me, "It's not real, just pretend." One day when I told him to get his shoes on he insisted that he already had sandals on...they were imaginary ones of course.  I totally lost that battle.  It is very hard to argue with the imagination.

Here are a few (okay maybe more than a few) pictures from May-July

He loves his sand box.  I am trying to teach him that he has to ask before opening it.  The other day he didn't know I was watching him.  He started to open his sand box then he paused and to himself he asked, "I can play in sand box?"  At least he has the self control to stop and ask someone before hand, lol!

He is very into building blocks.  He says he is making a birdie house or a big tower.

Side walk chaulk with Auntie Brooke and Aunt Sydney.

Still gets his hair cut while sitting in the Bumbo.

He loves playing with Kayla's things.

Mowing the lawn with ear muffs.  HA-HA!

He is always either half dressed or only in a diaper when we get him up in the morning and from nap.  Thankfully he keeps his diaper on.  He took it off once and I told not to take his diaper off any more and that only Mommy and Daddy can take his diaper off.  So far he has obeyed.
Wearing his shirt like a skirt.

Those are his shorts around his neck.

HIs new favorite thing is having a picnic in the house.

Here he is waiting to have a picnic at the "beach."

Doing a puzzle outside.

Snack time on his tricycle.

Car ramp fun.

For missing his two front teeth he can sure throw down some corn on the cob.

Ironing with his very own iron.

He spelled out his name with these magnets with very little help from me.  I think I only had to help him one time.

It is a wild ride being this boy's Mama and I love every minute of it!
