Lexi

The kids have been asking for a  dog for a couple of years and we finally gave in, meet Lexi.  I am not a natural pet lover but man I already love Lexi and find myself thinking that every family with kids should have a dog. It has been so fun watching all 3 of my kids help with the dog. J slept on our floor next to Lexi's crate the 1st night and K the 2nd night. Multiple times throughout the night when Lexi would whine both kids would console her back to sleep by whispering, "sshhh, it's okay." J even took her out to potty ay 5 am all by himself because he wanted to.  When Kayla slept next to Lexi she told Daddy she wanted to get up in the night to take her potty with him and she sure did.  She got up at 1:30 with Daniel and took her out potty.  Levi got a turn the following weekend and he sure looked forward to it all weekend.  He too got up early in the am with Daniel to take her potty.  In addition to playing with her they all have been so helpful in caring her for and are so eager to help clean her messes. I have seriously been so impressed. Now, lets hope all maturity lasts.  Seeing them love on their dog is so fun! Levi said, "I cant believe we have a dog. If this is a dream then I would cry." 

So far Lexi is proving to be a really great dog.  She is the perfect mix of playful and chill.  She is always already learning a few basic commands.

Joshua had to read some dog books and then write a paper about caring for a dog.  

The big day.  We ended up picking Lexi up at 7 weeks, a week earlier than originally planned.  The ids didn't know we were going to get her.  We went and bought some dog food and then told them all we were missing was a dog and then told them we were going to go pick her up.  They were so excited!
