October Happenings

WOW, October sure did fly by.  I seriously couldn't believe how fast it went.  I am sure that doesn't have anything to do with the new addition to our family ;)

Kayla loves riding in the "car cart."  And the way she says it is too cute! Her and Daddy went to Home Depot together and Daniel said people were constantly commenting on how cute she is.

Joshua and Kayla went on a worm hunt at Omah and
Papa's house and brought back their findings.

Kayla loves swinging on her swing down in the basement.  She has to have her hands full while she swings.

Can you spot the real baby?

We got "booed" (someone anonymously leaves treats on your door step).  Joshua thought that was so fun.  They let us stuff to bake Halloween cupcakes.  The box also had a recipe for cookies so when I asked Joshua if he wanted to bake cookies or cupcakes he said, "Cupcakes!  But I do love cookies!"

Aren't they the cutest little helpers?!

Dipping her fingers in to get a little taste.

I know this picture is blurry but I wanted to add it so I remember years down the road.  When we put the cupcakes in the oven Kayla was SO upset and ran in between the fridge and the wall and just wailed!!!  She didn't understand that they had to bake.  She just wanted to eat the batter all day long.

Joshua is still very much into building and constructing things.  Large wooden blocks, Legos, and train tracks are currently the toys of choice around here.

His Lego train.

Lego Stairs

He designed this all by himself.  Every few days he will tweak it here and there
but he wont give up until it ALL connects.  I really admire his patience and determination.  He enjoys building new designs with the tracks more than actually playing with the trains.

I love how he used a bridge to hold this up.

Daddy and Joshua spent a couple of hours building this bridge together out of snap blocks that Grandma and Grandpa Unsell sent him several months ago.  Super cool, don't you think?

One day Joshua used a foam square to build me a shelf in the kitchen.  He worked so hard on it using a hammer, Daddy's level and tape measure.  He spent a lot of time working on it.

Joshua has grown so independent and mature.  Most mornings when he wakes up he takes care of business  in the bathroom all by himself, picks out his clothes and gets dressed, and makes his bed all before coming into my room.

His made bed.

Talking about how people did their laundry way back
before washers and dryers.

Playing with "Bronco Worms" (colored spaghetti noodles).  They both
loved this activity and played with it for long periods at a time for days.

Joshua likes to get out of the car when we approach the mailboxes
and race us home.  This particular day we had his bike
in the car so he raced me home on that.

Kayla is always trying to ride the tricycle we have
but she is too small for it.  I found this cute little bike for $3 at a thrift store.
She still has a few more inches to go before she can reach t
he pedals but she sure looks cute sitting on it.

This sweet sister really has an independent streak in her.  She hardly ever wants help, wants to do everything herself, and walks everywhere.  When she falls down, she gets right back up and keeps on going.  Sometimes she will cry a little when she falls and when I go to help her she refuses my help, gets up and continues on with what she was doing while whimpering.

A lady helping in her class at church told me, "She is such a hoot.  I put her in the buggie to go for a walk and she cried.  I picked her up and she stopped.  I put her back in and she cried and I picked her and she stopped."  The little turkey just wanted to walk so they let her walk while all the other kids rode in the buggie.

This picture makes us laugh.  Joshua is always up for
a ride in the stroller while Kayla would rather walk.

A visit from Aunt Brooke.

We often see hot air balloons in our backyard.  They fly so close to our deck
that you can just about have a conversation with the riders.  The kids loves it.

Kayla sharing her blanket with Levi.  Joshua put the bucket of Legos
on the blanket so he couldn't kick the blanket off.

Sharing his train with Levi.  Love that proud smile!

The kids had a blast playing with the slide and pool full of balls.
It stayed out for a month before I finally put it away because I was so tired
of those balls being all over the house.

"WHHEEE!"

Me and my girl.
\
These two truly do love each other.  Kayla put her arm
around Joshua totally unprompted and he is eating it up as you can see.

Joshua gets to stay up a tiny bit later when the Broncos
play at night.  We make popcorn with him and he thinks it
is so special.  He gets almost giddy during these times.
It really is a special memory for all of us.

My clan ready for game day.  Speaking of which, Kayla loves her jersey.  She would wear it every single day if I let her.  I actually have to keep it out of sight otherwise when she sees it she points to her shirt and says over and over, "jersey." And when I ignore that request she says, "jersey pease?"  Now how can I say no to that?

Something else that we did in October but I forgot to take a picture but still want to remember was Daniel and I went on our first date since having Levi.  We left all three kiddos with Omah and Papa while we went out to eat and then to see Tim Hawkins.  What a great show!  So hilarious!

Looking forward to what November holds for us.
