Holyoke is a very small town about three hours away. Over all both kids did pretty well on the drive up and back though I don't see any road trips longer than that in our near future.
Towards the end of the drive on the way up Kayla started crying so we turned on static on the radio and it calmed her right down. On the way back she started the trip out crying because it was nap time. Joshua said to her, "No crying Kayla" Then he told us, "Music for Kayla" so we did the static trick again and she went right to sleep. What a sweet big brother looking out for her.
On the way home Joshua started singing Happy Birthday to Mommy and Daddy. Then he pretend to wrap several presents and give them to us to open. All the "gifts" he gave to us were balls. He has quit the imagination.
A little road trip reading.
After he woke up from his catnap he immediately put his hands behind his head like he was relaxing and with a big smile on his face said, "Holyoke!" He was so excited for this trip.
Playing with the sugar while waitng for his pizza.
I love this picture. Everyone is so distracted with Grandpa talking to Kayla except for Joshua.
Joshua has always enjoyed looking at all the pictures hanging on Grandpa's refrigerator. He points to people and says their name and if he doesn't know who it is he asks, "who is that?"
Looking at cows! My two favorite Joshua quotes while looking at the cows are when he said, "Good morning cows!" ( it was late afternoon) and when Uncle Lulu asked Joshua how many cows there were and Joshua said, "1,2,3,4. Four!"
Throwing rocks in the pond.
Rock skipping competition. Of course there was a competition.
Aunt Anna working hard on Baby Blanc #2's blanket. She makes all her new nieces and nephews amazing blankets.
Building blocks with Papa.
Joshua had so much fun and was so exhausted that by 9am the next day he declared, "I'm tired. I go to sleep" and then he started walking toward the basement where his pack and play was. Silly boy.
Omah slept in the basement with him. Omah said that after Joshua woke up in the morning he laid in bed talking to Poor Dog about how he was at Grandpa's house. After about 10 minutes of talking/playing in his pack and play he saw Omah and said, "Omah! Omah's bed. Omah's sleeping!" I think he was tickled to wake up with Omah in the same room.
Well, as you can see from the pictures, Joshua had a blast during Kayla's first trip to Holyoke, HA-HA! Whenever we got in the car to go somewhere he wold say, "No go home." and "Go back to Grandpa's house."
Kayla had a lot of fun too and was such an angel the whole time. She was as content as could be laying on the floor, talking, sqealing and just enoying her new surroundings. She also had a great time getting held by all her family and showing off her tummy time skills.
It was so hot and muggy there so Kayla spent most her time in just a diaper showing of her chunky little legs.
She found the ceiling fan!
Cuddling with Omah.
Grandpa talking to Kayla.
Aunt Anna and sweet Kayla.
I can't wait for our next trip when the whole extended family is there. I know Joshua especially can't wait either. The next morning home when Daniel asked him what they should do for breakfast Joshua said, "Go to Grandpa's house!" He more than enjoyed Kayla's first trip to Holyoke.
