A few things I said I would never do

Before I became a Mom there was a list of things I would NEVER do.  I hate to admit it but I even judged some parents for doing some of the things on my “Never will I do that" list.  But sure enough once I had Joshua, my whole outlook changed and I realize that for the first few weeks of his life I am in survival mode and I will do whatever it takes.
Here are just a few things that I gave into that I said I would NEVER do as a Mom.

I have seen people put these signs on their doorbell and I thought “How silly.  I am going to teach my child to sleep through anything.”  That was until I was given a child who is a champion sleep fighter and who sleeps very lightly.  I cannot take any chances of someone ringing the doorbell right as he is falling asleep.

We just started using the radio to play white noise during naps.  We have found that white noise really does help our little guy sleep longer.  It does make sense since that is what they heard in the womb nonstop.
Ah the pacifier.  Now, I was totally against a pacifier for a while.  However, in learning about the infants need to suck I started coming around on the pacifier but he would not be given one until a few weeks after birth.  Well, we gave him one in the hospital!  He would want to suck but wasn’t hungry.  This saved me from being the human pacifier.  We don’t have to use it a whole lot but when we do, boy it is so nice!
I have joined the Mommy club of “doing what it takes to keep sane.”  After all, as my FIL told me, “You are only a perfect parent until you have kids.”  How true is that?
So he may rely on music to fall asleep the rest of his life.  The world will keep on spinning.  Besides, it’s not like that is asked on a college application.
